Heavy Duty Cranes

In 2008, this project included design, fabrication, transport, installation, commission, and testing of 3 heavy duty cranes for a Southern Alberta Concrete Precast manufacturer.

All 3 cranes span 87’ and were fit with VFD and wireless control.

One crane was designed specially to work with their pipe processing equipment.

To meet the job requirements the crane was fit with hardened steel bridge wheels and a special GH Open winch (built up) hoist.

The crane was capable of hoisting 20 ton at 50 fpm continuously for 2 shifts 6 days a week.

The other 2 cranes with capacities of 2 x 10 and 2 x 15 ton respectively were designed to handle buckets of concrete for pouring and to load out finished product.

In addition to the cranes WF supplied one of its custom crane door systems.

The lower doors are bottom rolling electric operated supported by WF custom door support towers.

This eliminates the need for an upper track support and therefore there is no obstructions hinder the door way.

This is ideal for bridge cranes with 2 hoists.

The flap door is hoisted by premium electric chain hoists and is fit with an anti-collision system designed to prevent an accidental collision between the door and the crane.

Testimonial

WF was able to build all our non-module steel and jib cranes in the tight schedule that we required and needed. WF was able to incorporate extra work into the schedule which allowed our site work to proceed on schedule.
