Brady Jacobson
Hi, I’m Brady Jacobson, my journey with WF began as a laborer in my teens back in 2004. After being employed with WF I soon took an interest in the welding trade and participated in the RAP program through high school, and since then, I have climbed the ranks through sheer dedication, and hard work. I completed my welding apprenticeship here at WF, showcasing my commitment to mastering my trade. My leadership skills quickly became evident, leading to my promotion to night foreman and then day foreman. My dedication to continuous improvement and my ability to inspire those around me have been key factors in my progression to shop superintendent and eventually to my current role as production manager. Each step of the way, I have aimed to uphold the values and work ethic instilled in me by my family and the WF community. In my current role, I oversee the entire production process, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. WF is more than just a workplace for me; it’s a family tradition. My father, uncle, and grandfather all worked here, and my younger brother continues the legacy. This deep-rooted connection to WF is evident in my families unwavering dedication and passion for their work. My family is proud to have become and continue to be a part of the WF family and we look forward to many more years to come.

I started my time with WF in May 2015, fresh out of university. I’ve been pretty fortunate to get a job in structural engineering right out of graduation, even more so, one which goes the extra step with very generous Christmas parties for the kids and adults, family BBQs and the like. I feel it shows appreciation for the great crew working to help keep things running smoothly. I know everyone looks forward to these events. During work hours, I enjoy the variety of projects I get to be involved in, from very small to incredibly large. There are opportunities for travel, site visits, conferences, seminars, work with the U of A, and even just going into the shops to check out the progress of jobs I’ve worked on. What makes WF different from an engineering firm is that I can go into the shop and see the connections I’ve worked on, the structures and cranes being fabricated, and chat with the people building them.

I began working for WF in February 2005. A fun fact about our team: fleas can jump 350 times their body length. I’m just joking. The real fact is that I’ve stayed on with WF thanks in part to the company’s daily challenges when it comes to taking care of the equipment and working with staff on multiple projects. I enjoy working on what’s broken, fixing it, and making it work like brand new. I also enjoy being on a team, and the feeling I get when we all can succeed together. What I like most about WF though, is the respect the company gives me and I’m able to give back. I know that I’m an integral part of something bigger, here.
David Walter
I started working for WF in early 2019 as an apprentice structural fitter. I have stayed with WF because of the opportunities presented to me here. I was provided with lots of hours and projects that I am proud to have my name on, from large-scale models to stainless steel structural projects. With the aid of some very knowledgeable journeymen and superiors who challenged me and guided me, I was able to achieve journeyman status in my trade. Since then I have been given further opportunities by WF to transition my role in the company, and to share my knowledge of the metal trades with new and young apprentices towards a rewarding career.
Eric Chan
I started working for WF in July, 2010. My role with the company has allowed me to achieve different goals every day when I focus on detailing structural steel projects. I’ve been able to overcome challenges with skills and knowledge acquired during my time here, completing small and big jobs with self-satisfaction. The managerial team here is very supportive, and everyone respects each other here at WF. It makes me want to continue to be one of the valuable members of a successful team.
Everyone likes the little details here too: the honey cruller doughnuts on Doughnut Thursday, the air freshener in the washroom, and share some drinks and laughs after work is done on Friday. I can’t find a good reason why I should leave and I don’t think I ever will!
Gishnu Nair
I started here at WF in January, 2018. I’m always busy with a new project to do and new happenings on the shop floor. I’ve stayed with the company due to it’s continual growth. We’ve built a good team here, and the comfort with each other and the work tends to stay consistent.
Jamie Bell
I started working for WF in September 2019. I’m originally from England and I moved to Canada in 2012 with no idea of what I was getting into. My first winter here I thought it would be good to take a walk to the grocery store. One hour later in -20 degree weather, I changed my mind! I’ll take the better challenges here at WF any day. From building new designs to dealing with personnel from all fields and corners of the world, it’s great to see them grow and take shape. It’s especially rewarding to see the tradesmen and tradeswomen around me also grow and develop their skills at WF. It helps that we tend to share the same end goal of creating and delivering a high-quality product for our customers.

I’ve been with the company since March 2018. So fun fact, only 0.9777% of Earth’s population can come up with a fun fact on command. The remaining population will take approximately 3 months before they think of anything interesting. What you may find interesting though is that WF has been extremely steady in providing work over the last 5 years. WF appreciates and values that their employees have lives outside of work and that ultimately, family comes first. They also invest in the success of their employees by providing training to further increase their knowledge and abilities. I’ve benefited from the latter: I’ve been able to provide quality customer service for overhead cranes to a wide variety of customers in various industries, going so far as to represent WF in Cuba! I’ve also been able to experience the independence of running a service truck along with the responsibility of essentially being the face of the company.
Lindsey Stringer
I joined WF early in 2024 and immediately felt a sense of belonging. Working for a privately owned company that genuinely values its people is very important to me. I feel supported in my role and appreciated for my contributions. I understand impact of caring owners who prioritize employee success both personally and professionally. I look forward to the challenges ahead at WF and continuing to contribute to the company’s growth.
Lisa Levins
I started here at WF a bit over a year ago in June 2021. I’ve stayed in part because of Donut Thursdays. Jokes aside, I do love Donut Thursdays but I’ve mainly stayed because WF supports a healthy work/life balance. I get to be home every night and enjoy my weekends with my kids. I appreciate the responsibilities I’ve been trusted with, including a lot of the basic training and in-shop crane use. Though I’m still getting used to the chaos of wiring panels, making it organized and functional is extremely satisfying and I’m usually pretty proud of the result. Recently, I made my first back pan, from the initial layout to completely wired and I’m looking forward to learning more and continuing to advance. Overall, I always feel safe, valued, respected, and invested in.
Magnus Peterson
I started at WF in March 2018 as a labourer fresh out of high school. I have since worked my way up and got my journeyman ticket and my red seal in Welding. Working here has presented me with opportunities I never thought I would have this early in my life. I have gained a ton of experience in the structural steel industry, many thanks to the great team of friendly people we have here who are more than willing to teach and bring others up. I have become part of management as a lead-hand here, as well as play a large role in our Joint Health and Safety Committee.
WF has provided me with a steady career, and I never have to worry about running out of work. Their employee benefit program and RRSP matching has enabled me to purchase my own home.
Mike Prybysh
I started at WF on September 4th, 2001. I’ve stayed with WF because I believe in the company’s values. WF has a lot of respect for the management team, and I have a great relationship with the owners. The company has provided me with opportunities to troubleshoot and diagnose problems, correcting them with various equipment. It’s like getting to solve puzzles for a living. There are many benefits to working with WF, and the top of the list is seeing people that I have mentored, advised, or trained over my career with WF succeed in theirs. I don’t believe there is anywhere better to work or anywhere that I would feel as valued as I do at WF. Also, they let me tell you guys that my all-favorite movie is “The Outlaw Josey Wales”, you should check it out!
Sonja Rehm
I joined WF in October of 2022. I’m grateful for the opportunity WF has given me to grow in my administrative role, from document control to event planning, there is never a dull moment! Being apart of such a supportive team motivates me to give my best and continuously grow.

I began working for WF the first week of April 2018. Now, I won’t get into my Spain trip, which is probably fresh in everyone’s minds. Instead, I’ll tell you that I applied for the Shipping Coordinator job and didn’t know that I will be hired as a Project Coordinator and get promoted to the role of PM. Good thing that the WF management invested their time to read my resume and consider me for the PM position. The main reason why I have stayed is due in part to WF’s management (Ian/Ryan). They mentored me to be able to do this job. I had some experience in management, but I believe I learned a lot more at WF. I try my best to be able to continue to contribute, but it helps that I pretty much like everything from selling cranes to dealing with all sorts of different people. WF has been fair to me as a result; they value the employees and give everyone a fair chance to succeed in the organization.
